About My Work

When we think of the tarot, the images of a fortuneteller, Gypsy woman, or psychic hotline all too frequently come to mind. So why do I, a psychologist, who doesn’t believe she can predict the future, find the tarot so important and fascinating? These cards, with their powerful images, serve as guideposts and landmarks in our Life Journey.

Each card of the tarot represents an archetype: a concept or idea that resonates with all of us. Among these archetypes that the cards represent are “love”, “authority”, “Motherhood”, “justice” and “Fate”, just to name a few. Everyone is familiar with “big ideas”, but what makes the process special is that each one of us has a unique perspective and interpretation as to what these concepts mean to them.

To discover these personal narratives, we will use the cards as a starting point in a process of questioning and reflection. The questions I ask are an attempt to challenge you. They’re an invitation to shift your perspective and shake up your accepted vision of your self and your place in the world. Imagine that your ideas about yourself and your relationships are like a multi-faceted prism. However, as is frequently the case, we become “stuck” looking out that prism through just one lens. We become so accustomed to looking and judging our world through that single aperture that we literally lose sight of the alternative options available to us. Our vision shrinks and becomes diminished. Hence, our appreciation for the variation and richness of life decreases as well.

The tarot, and my consultation, is designed to expand and maximize your vision so that you can consider a multitude of different perspectives. You will go from a single description to many descriptions. You will no longer be confined to just one room but have access to many. It’s a journey of self-discovery, self-agency and transformation which, ideally, will enlighten you and elevate you to be your best self.
